Lyft codes do not work like retail codes. They are not a percentage off the ride you are booking — they add credit to your account, and that credit is then spent automatically on a later ride under rules you do not control at the moment of booking.

A Lyft code adds credit, it does not discount this ride. Codes are entered in the Lyft app, not at any checkout: open the menu, go to the payment or promotions section, and add the code there. Once accepted it becomes ride credit on your account. Credit is applied automatically to an eligible ride afterwards — you cannot choose which ride it lands on, and it typically covers the fare only, not tips.

    Enter it in the app's payment or promotions section ahead of requesting a ride. A code added mid-ride or after arrival will not be applied retroactively to that trip.

    Check what the credit is restricted to

    Lyft credit frequently carries conditions: a maximum value per ride, particular ride types, a service area, or an expiry date. Those are shown with the credit in the app and decide whether it can apply to the trip you have in mind.

    There is no box at the point of booking to spend credit. Lyft applies eligible credit to the fare automatically, so the price you see on the ride receipt is where you confirm it worked.
