Most coupon sites list "Walmart promo codes" as if they work on anything in your cart. Walmart's own help pages describe something different: the promo codes on walmart.com mostly come from Marketplace sellers, cover select items, and only work when the item is sold by the seller who issued the code. This guide explains how Walmart promo codes really work, how to stack up to five of them, and the savings that need no code at all, with every rule taken from Walmart's own help pages.
For the Walmart codes and deals we list right now, see our Walmart coupons and promo codes page.

How Walmart promo codes actually work
Walmart's promo code terms describe three things that set walmart.com apart from most stores:
- Codes come from sellers. Walmart says some Marketplace sellers offer promo codes on select items. The products a code covers are called Qualifying Items.
- The seller has to match. A code only applies when the item in your cart is sold by the seller offering it. You check this in the "Sold by" box.
- You can stack up to five. Walmart allows a maximum of five unique promo codes per transaction. Unless an offer says otherwise, a promo code can't be combined with other offers, and Walmart evaluates every applicable offer at checkout.
Where to enter a Walmart promo code
- Add the qualifying item to your cart.
- Check the "Sold by" box. On the item page it sits below the delivery options on the right. If it shows a different seller, select the same item from the seller offering the code.
- Enter the code at checkout, in the promo code field described in the offer. The discount is applied automatically to the qualifying items.
- Add more codes if you have them, up to five different codes on the same order.
- Buy everything in one order, shipped to one address, while the offer is still running.
Walmart promo code not working? The real reasons
- The seller doesn't match. The item in your cart comes from a different seller than the one that issued the code.
- The offer ended. Promo codes are limited-time offers, valid while supplies last, and can be changed or cancelled at any time without notice.
- It can't combine. Unless the offer says otherwise, a promo code offer can't be combined with other offers.
- The order is split. All qualifying items must be bought in the same transaction and shipped to a single address.
- You're below the minimum. Tax, shipping and handling, and gift wrap don't count toward a minimum purchase.
- You're shopping from outside the US. Walmart says customers shopping from outside the United States, or shipping to international addresses, may not have access to promotional codes, Walmart+ benefits or free shipping.
Two more rules from the same terms: if you buy more qualifying items than the offer allows, the discount only applies to the lowest-priced ones, and if you return a qualifying item, the discount is deducted from your refund.
Extra Savings: the seller discounts with a checkbox
Some Marketplace sellers offer Extra Savings instead of a code. Eligible items show a banner:
- "Save an extra $X": sign in, then select the checkbox on the banner to use the discount. The seller may limit how many you can buy at that price; once you reach the limit, the banner says "Savings redeemed".
- "Buy X, save $Y": add the stated number of eligible items from that seller. You can mix and match eligible items from the same seller, and the discount is split between them.
Walmart+ plans compared
Walmart+ is Walmart's membership, and it removes most of the fees a promo code would otherwise be fighting. Here are the plans as shown on Walmart's own pages in October 2026:
| Plan | Price | Trial | Who it's for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Walmart+ | $98 a year (annual) | 30 days for $1 | Everyone |
| Walmart+ Student | $6.47 a month or $49 a year (50% off) | Free 30-day trial | Eligible college and grad students |
| Walmart+ Assist | $6.47 a month or $49 a year (50% off) | Free 30-day trial | People who qualify for government assistance such as SNAP, WIC or Medicaid |
What members get on shipping and delivery, from Walmart's Walmart+ benefits page:
- Free shipping with no order minimum on items sold or shipped by Walmart. It may not apply to items sold and shipped by Marketplace sellers, freight, oversized items, or international addresses.
- Free delivery from your store, so members skip the $7.95 to $9.95 delivery fee. There is a $35 order minimum, and below it a $6.99 minimum order fee applies.
- Free same-day delivery on select items, with a $35 order minimum.
Walmart+ also includes a streaming choice of an ad-supported service such as Peacock or Paramount+. Check the Walmart+ terms for how your trial converts to a paid plan before you sign up.
Try Walmart+ for $1
30 days of Walmart+ for $1, then $98 a year
- ✓Free shipping with no order minimum on items sold or shipped by Walmart
- ✓Students and SNAP, WIC or Medicaid recipients pay half price
Walmart Cash: money back from manufacturer offers
Walmart Cash is Walmart's promotional currency, and you earn it from Manufacturer Offers rather than codes:
- On walmart.com or in the app, go to your Account and select Get More next to your Walmart Cash balance, then View Eligible Items. Offers also show on a product's page.
- Select the box next to Get Walmart Cash to claim the offer, then buy the item.
- The Walmart Cash is added once your order is fulfilled. It isn't awarded if the item is substituted or returned.
In a store, you can scan a product's barcode in the Walmart app to see and claim the same offers, then link your purchase by scanning the QR code at checkout. You can spend Walmart Cash on future purchases online or in store.

Walmart returns: 90 days for most items
Walmart says that in most cases you have 90 days to return items bought from Walmart, and that returns are free. Some categories have a shorter window:
| Return window | Examples from Walmart's returns page |
|---|---|
| 90 days | Most items bought from Walmart |
| 60 days | Hearing aids |
| 30 days | Consumer electronics, PC components, electric bicycles, vacuums and floor care, Walmart protection plans, and most Marketplace sellers |
| 14 days | Most wireless phones, Marketplace luxury and collectible items |
Keep in mind that returning an item you bought with a promo code takes the discount off your refund.
Walmart's deals: Rollbacks, Flash Deals and Clearance
Walmart's Deals page groups its everyday markdowns, Rollbacks, Flash Deals and Clearance, with savings by department, and it runs limited-time seasonal events on top. Black Friday falls on November 27 in 2026. Walmart sets its own event dates, and we add each event to our Walmart page once Walmart announces it, then take it down when it ends.
