Kindle Deals: The Kindle Unlimited Free Trial, Prime Reading and Every Way to Save

Kindle is Amazon's reading family: Kindle e-readers, the Kindle Store's ebooks, Kindle Unlimited and the free Kindle app. Most Kindle savings need no promo code at all, and this guide covers every one of them, with every detail taken from Amazon's own site.

Kindle Unlimited and its free trial

Kindle Unlimited is a monthly membership with more than 5 million ebooks, plus thousands of audiobooks, comics, manga and magazines.

• Free trial: new subscribers who have not tried Kindle Unlimited are eligible for a 30-day free trial, which then converts to a monthly paid membership.
• Price: in the U.S., Amazon lists it at $11.99 a month plus taxes.
• Borrowing: up to 20 titles at a time, with no due dates. Since April 22, 2026, magazine issues count toward the 20.
• Devices: no Kindle needed. Read on Kindle devices, Fire tablets, the free Kindle app for iOS, Android, Mac and PC, or Kindle Cloud Reader in a browser.
• Sharing and gifting: share titles with your Amazon Family members, or give Kindle Unlimited as a gift for 6, 12 or 24 months.
• Cancelling: go to Manage your Kindle Unlimited Membership and select "Cancel membership", any time. When the membership ends, you lose access to its titles.

Before you buy any ebook, look for the Kindle Unlimited logo on its page. Audiobooks in the catalog show the logo with headphones.

Prime Reading and Amazon First Reads

If you have Prime, two reading benefits are already included:

• Prime Reading: unlimited access to a rotating catalog of ebooks and audiobooks, with magazines and comic books included.
• Amazon First Reads: early access to Amazon editors' picks before release, free for Prime members each month. Kindle Unlimited members can read most previous First Reads picks free.

Kindle book deals

Amazon's book deals page has new deals every day. Turn on the Kindle filter to see Kindle books only.

A new Kindle for less with Trade-In

Amazon Trade-In gives you an Amazon.com Gift Card for an eligible device, valued on its model, generation and condition. Some trade-ins add 20% off an eligible new Kindle.

• Trade-in discounts for Amazon devices are limited to one per customer, per device category, per calendar quarter.
• Shipping is free with a prepaid UPS label, and Amazon devices such as a Kindle can be dropped off at participating locations.
• You have 45 days to send in a standalone trade-in.

Where a promo code goes

When an Amazon promotional code covers a Kindle device, add the Kindle to your cart and check out; Amazon says codes can't be used with 1-Click (Buy Now). On the payment page, type the code in "Enter a gift card, voucher or promotional code" under "Your available balance" and select Apply.
